City Councillor Stephen Dasko to Enter Race To Become Mississauga’s Mayor

Mississauga, ON: Mississauga Ward 1 City Councillor Stephen Dasko met with the City Clerk this afternoon to present his candidate nomination package registering him in the 2024 Mayoral By- election.

“Growing up in Mississauga, I’ve witnessed the evolution of the city first hand. Over the past six years serving on City Council, I’ve been deeply involved in shaping our city’s growth. We have a bright future,” said Councillor Dasko, who continued: “Our first 50 years have been remarkable and our next 50 must do even more. I’m running to take Mississauga to the next level, to step- up and tackle the city’s challenges head-on to pave the way for Mississauga to become the world-class city it’s destined to be.”

The passionate Mississauga city councillor has demonstrated his collaborative approach to leadership through hosting more than 500 community meetings over his six years at City Hall and working together with the community and developers in his ward where more than 40% of new housing applications have been submitted. He has demonstrated he knows how to work with the community and builders to get things done while preserving the character of communities.

He has a track record for getting things done. As mayor, Stephen will focus on making Mississauga an affordable city through smart growth and keeping it a safe city that is livable and accessible.

City Council accepted the resignation of former mayor Bonnie Crombie on January 17, 2024.

The 2024 Mississauga mayoral by-election will be held on June 10, 2024.
